The Black Hand
A religious order shrouded in mystery since the first few pilgrims arrived in Soulwood. An outlandish sect dedicated to Solaris in a peculiar way, from what is known by their teachings the monks of the Black Hands purpose is to subsume the sins of others, if not to save their lives than at least for the redemption of their souls.
Members of the Black Hand lead modest lives dedicated to Solaris: they forgo all earthly ties including familial relations and their name, they fast and pray daily in unusual ways to fulfill their morbid tenets of the Faith, freeing their community of such burdens as the litanies of death, lamentation of the damned and funerary rites.
Their bizarre rituals and traditions are accepted by the townsfolk by the simple fact that they work. The community has since been reliant on the order to fulfill their oath even if by only reassuring them in their safety, though as it would seem the Black Hand has revealed no intention to abandon Soulwood; the town would rarely disregard the interpretation of Omens and Faith made by the Black Hand and its Oracle, in lighter sense the Black Hand although weird and peculiar are embraced by the town and taken care of as one of them.
